Wednesday Update

Wow, I have slacked off on blog posts!! We have been so crazy busy with trips and the general insanity of the weeks has increased!

Just wanted to share these downloads I’ve been enjoying from noisetrade. Also, if you don’t know what noisetrade is, you should. Learn about it here: http://www.noisetrade.com/info/about

And as for the downloads, I have already expressed my love of Noah Gunderson, and look who has an album up on noisetrade!

Task Tuesday: Gearing up for the holidays

I have SO.MUCH.TO.DO.

Been meeting with pediatricians. That is a weird thing, because I have never lived in a place that actually had choices. Small town girl here! It is awesome. The second they are rude or don’t actually listen to a question, I can basically say, “hey, have a nice day,” and walk out. Aside from that, dentist, eye doc, prenatal visits, the vet, along with all of the other crazy of holiday shopping and cooking and friends and parties and baby showers…. ahhhhhh. No time.

I got a ton done last week, we went through our summer and winter clothes! Finally!

+Meals: pizza, crispy cheddar chicken, salmon patties, bean casserole, sloppy joes

+finish setting up pediatrician appointments

Aside from that, just focusing on surviving the business with almost no sleep.

Have a great week!

Music Monday: Anything Could Happen

My husband and I LOVE Ellie Goulding. We love her voice and her awesome hair and the beauty of her songs and lyrics.

If you go anywhere near a top 40 station, you may or may not have heard her song “Anything Could Happen.” I love love love the radio version. It is beautifully put together and the video is weird and gorgeous.

However, just to hear her simply and beautiful voice (and crazy British accent), I like this live version. So, for your enjoyment, Anything Could Happen.

Mimosa by m.e.

For the first time in my life, I won a giveaway! AWESOME.

Here in Louisiana there are tons of really creative and skilled artists. My favorite jewelry maker in Baton Rouge is Mimosa.

She makes colorful and beautiful pieces with bronze and ceramic. She has several Louisiana themed pieces like pecans, tigers, mosquitoes, and crawfish! I love it.

Here is my bracelet that came in the mail!

I got to pick out my charms. This little light of mine, B.R. LA, a crawfish, and a Louisiana stamp.

Task Tuesday

It is November and really finally cooling off here! I love these days of perfect weather. In the 40s in the morning and 70s during the day!

Untitled

We have a really fun and busy week, but a lot of things out of the normal schedule and routine of life. A birthday, a baby shower, family and friends coming through, dinner with coworkers, and hopefully the Renaissance Fair this weekend! And I always look forward to spending time with our church family when we are home on the weekends.

+Meals: White chicken chili (soooo good anytime of year), crispy cheddar chicken, salmon patties, bean casserole, sloppy joes, crockpot potato soup (planning to have leftovers to freeze)

+We are seriously going to go through winter and summer clothes. I ain’t playing.

+Mail Christmas cards! I love doing this.

+Enjoy THESE:

Made them for my husband this morning: pumpkin pop tarts from Joy the Baker. SO. DELCIOUS. We make them every year even though it feels like it takes 3 hours to make them. Labor of love!

Have a great week!

Music Monday: November Blue

In honor of the Avetts coming to Louisiana (not that I went to see them, ha) I thought I would post one of my favorite songs by them. It really is one of my favorite songs of all time. And this version is one of the best.

Country Table, Farm to Fork

I was in a local store last week and saw this on the counter.

Baton Rouge already has a great local farmers market, and I love this as well! Right now, my husband and I aren’t in a place where we can do this. We don’t cook or eat in the way that you would need to in order for this to work. After being married a year and a half, I do good to get breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the table at all, much less really fresh-produce-heavy meals! I am learning, and it may be an option someday! For me as a more experienced cook!

They have several bundles and meat and dairy options. I can’t tell you how awesome it would be to have your groceries dropped off at your door. I really don’t enjoy grocery shopping and this would be so nice! And knowing it is a fresh as can be and local is so great, and hard to find in a lot of southern cities (yall know it… Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama have a rep for not being exactly… progressive).

I would love to try this if it wasn’t in bundle form. I think if we could get meat and dairy and just a few select vegetables every week or every other week, it might work better. But since a giant vegetable/fruit bundle is the base, it just won’t work for two people. We don’t have enough meals in the week to consume that many vegetables, and I don’t have the skill (or desire, lets be honest) to learn how to cook that many vegetables.

Thursday Pins! Future house ideas

We have chairs just like this, except they are wooden. When we have a house (SOMEDAY MAYBE NEVER AHH) I think this would be so cute to do! I really love painted furniture and get tired of heavy dark wood everywhere (which we mostly have, and I am grateful! but it would be nice to have some painted as well)

On my to-get list is linen bedding. Mostly shams and a duvet. You just can’t beat the cool, refreshing, clean look and feel of linen.

Sigh.

Something else I love is open shelving. Which is kind of a curse, because I’m a cluttery pack-rat kind of person. It just looks so lovely when done right.

Lastly, I want an old house just so I can have these floors:

Task Tuesday

Well, due to schedules and the kindof ridiculous size roast I made, we are still eating leftovers from last week. This is awesome for a number of reasons. 1. I do not have to buy as much meat for this week. 2. I only have to run to the store for more fruits/veggies and things we are running low on. 3. I get to go to Trader Joe’s this week to shop!!

+Meal plan for the week:

Tuesday: steak quesadillas with leftover meat

Wednesday: parmesian crusted tilapia

Thursday: chili with rice

Friday: pizza

And still on the list from last week…

+Make pizza dough for freezer/Friday (I make a big batch. Recipe from the amazing Marley…)

+Organize winter and summer clothes

And new goals/plans:

+hostess gifts for baby showers (will share the cute ideas I found after said showers!)

+Get GIANT AMAZING CALDENAR IN THE MAIL. Seriously. So. Excited. http://www.neuyear.net/ This will make me the most organized human on the planet.

+Research vaccines and delayed/alternative schedules. I will write more about this later, it is pretty dang interesting.

Hope you are having a productive and awesome week! What are your tips for staying organized and cooking meals?
